Passion plays a very vital role in growth and development of any sector in the society. The current state of the Kenyan Arts and Entertainment industry has gained a lot from the passion of the persons involved in the industry both directly and indirectly.
Artists who are passionately interested in Film, Theatre, Music and Poetry understand the role played by the Kenya National Theatre (KNT) in promoting the growth of this industry in the country. Currently inhabited by artists from all walks of life, the KNT raises many talents thereby helping Kenyans expose the unexploited talents in the country. With passion, many Kenyans and internationals as well engage in the celebration of various cultural values.
Introduced in the country in 1952, the National Theatre has nurtured many talents including the most celebrated artists in the capital. In 2012, under the Ministry of Education the government introduced film production in the Schools, Colleges and Universities Drama Festivals. It has since grown rapidly due to the existence of passion in the Kenyan blood. The year 2016 saw 218 films presented during the drama festivals held at the Meru School in Meru County.
Growth in this industry means a lot to the cultural development of any given society. It must be recalled that Greece bears the honor for global modernization of film and theatre during the 535BC. In Kenya, Kibera slum has been celebrated for introducing the Hotsun Foundation and Tunapanda Institute that have raised many talents in the informal sector including writers, actors, dancers, rappers, animators and film editors among many other talents.
With passion from the artists and support from the government organizations, international investors and the society at large, the Kenyan artists are now able to inspire the young and passionate. The industry is currently employing a good number thereby helping reduce dependence, crime and drug abuse among the youth.
In a nutshell, passion has pushed many young men and women into being part of this growing industry. At Tambua, it is passion too that has pushed us into Film, Music & Poetry.
Remember, with passion ‘Stars Live to Shine’ and therefore if you are passionate, be ready to shine and explore your talent.
