Your name, nickname, current residence and what you do as an artiste?
I’m known by the name MC Dantez aka The Real Mountain Top Bazeline. I stay in Nairobi and I specialise in mceeing. Currently an MC for Wednesday Reggae Love at the Florida 1000 (F1) in Nairobi’s CBD.
Could you describe one of your typical workdays?
Being an MC is fun and I appreciate my talent. I’m also a Beautician.
What skills are required in your position as an artiste?
One needs knowledge about the Entertainment industry.
What parts of your job(artiste) do you find most challenging?
Being used by some people to achieve their goals at my expense. You may do a great job for someone but he/she ends up paying you peanuts.
What do you find most enjoyable?
Giving back to the society and spreading positive vibes.
Are there any negatives in your job, mention any?
Yeah, like atimes I do lack enough finances to boost my plans.
Kindly share some of the projects you’ve accomplished so far.
There are so many but I will mention one for now. I’m currently working on a track with ROG and it will be out soon.
Which seasons of the year are toughest in your job?
Seasons when I’m sick, but in most cases all seasons are the same.
How would you describe government support for your field?
Not that appreciative. Our government hasn’t really taken artistes that serious.
Is there enough room for more with such a dream?
Yes, there is enough for anyone who wants to be an MC. Your dedication and passion will determine your progress.
Why do some people quite this industry?
Some people join the industry not for passion but money. This kills their hopes and makes some surrender.
Who are your greatest motivators in the industry today?
I’m inspired by many icons, let me just mention a few who include my closest friend DJ Kweizah whom I started with in this industry. I’m also inspired by Emmanuel Rahima, Ba Naila, Sarah Mc Koi, Oscar Mulanda, Jofi Arts, Champion Juggler (Mwanix), DJ Chara, DJ Bau Gallis, Bobo. I won’t forget my late Dad, Grandma Joyce, Mum Consolata Moraa and my son Travis for the love and motivation.
What is the position of women and people with disabilities in the industry today?
People are abled differently, everyonehas his/her position in this industry, just be determined.
Are there opportunities for self-employment in your field? Kindly expound on this.
Arts and Entertainment has many opportunities for self employment. Once one can plan and stick to the dream.
How long does it take for one to rise to the top?
It depends on one’s determination. For me I started Mceeing in 2014 and it hasn’t been a walk in the park.
What educational preparation would you recommend for someone who wants to advance in this field?
Wisdom matters a lot but getting knowledge about this field is an added advantage.
Considering all the people you’ve met in your field, what personal attributes are essential for success?
Love for one another, wisdom and being kind.

Never give up on your dreams and also share love with the community
